In this Unit, the presentation I made is to discuss how different stakeholder groups’ roles are playing in assessing students’ mathematical proficiency levels. Most ideas are from the Schoenfeld(2007) paper, because I found the chapter 1 has a lot of good thoughts on assessments that I never thought about. Usually, teachers talk about mathematical proficiency levels only on students’ performance. However, teachers, students, and parents should work together to help students improve their mathematical performance on both informal and formal assessments.
This presentation has 3 parts. First, I used the example in GRE to talked about what mathematicians want from students in their assessment, and then use that to talk about the current model of our new constructed IB program. From there, we can see what ibdp test administration wants from students (This could be introduced to parents or new teachers who are not familiar with IB, ). The second part talked about more stakeholders’ roles–what different things teachers, parents, and students want and need from assessment. The last part is reflection. We can cooperate by typing things we can do to help students be learners who know what they need to do, from students’, teachers’, and students’ perspectives. (That is, what I can do and what I need help from other stakeholders )
